Review 1: Starbuks on Guy and Ste Catherine at 7:54pm, one fine monday evening

So, here I was sitting at that  Starbucks in Montreal's infamous LE Faubourg Ste Catherine. I came in after spending the day studying, hurting myself at Le Gym in the Concordia EV building and a well deserved nap.

So here i was, ordering myself a Grande Mint Refresh.

Now I have to say, Tazo Refresh is my favourite tea at Starbucks. Maybe it's the massive teabag, the properly washed leaves causing no residue or maybe it's just the awesome refreshing taste of it. FYI,  a grande is $2.24 with taxes and all. same damn price as a Mezzo. yes, i just used their fancy words to say small and medium; get over it.

Back to the store. conveniently located on the corner of guy and st Catherine, you shouldn't be surprised to encounter hobos (yes, we are in montreal) with their interesting personalities, the hipsters from Concordia's arts dept just sitting in, with their $1299 Macbooks and their stupid red squares. which reminds me, what happened to those beggars? Last i heard they wanted education to be free so they could be pouring coffee for the working population. anyway, i digress. plus, i am here writing a blog entry because I'm tired of studying.

SO yes, the store. piece of advice, don't come in during peak hours. like almost every Starbucks, you'll be waiting in line for way too long for you daily dose of caffeine. instead, cross the street for chemically enhanced cocaine and simulated coffee flavor from the Tim Horton's that just opened this year. For a while I hated Starbucks to be honest. acting more like a hippie and supporting local stuff such as second cup or Tim's, depending on budget of course. then I started working and realised, second cup relies on people who think Starbucks is overpriced! a stupid basic coffee costs $2.35, whereas at Starbucks, its only $2.15. yeah, $20c makes the whole damn difference ok? when you're a student it does. moreover, the taste. oh man...it just tastes like boogers.

But here's the thing about this specific store, forget the one up on guy and maisonneuve that is just wayyy too full of John Molson School of CanadadoucheBags and other daddy's little girls who always wear too much makeup, no, this one has something else; a variation of how the store is managed.

Yes, I once did a random experiment; observe the muffins. there was that one muffin that was just leaning on the window, with a fly against the window-impossible to see on the other side of the counter, right? you'd think they'd notice but no. i came back the next day, the muffin wasn't even moved, let alone the fly removed. Advice: always get sealed food only. this applies to their hot items too which are in a freezer and heated to perfection before serving. On the same note, stay away from any bakery. Yes?

aside from that only downside, i realised after writing this blog that i don't hate many things about it. it has a massive study table, lots of sky lighting and a huge window for sunlight, a very often nice staff. plus tables also being full...what do you expect? it's next to school. huge plus though; the back door. leads you straight to the staircase to go downstairs for classes. helpful in winter. the underground also leads you to Sharx pool and billards for overpriced games/h and once upon a time pretty girls.
